New Balance 740
The comfort that lasts from the first hour at school to afternoon playtime is offered by the kids' sneakers New Balance 740 in a black-grey combination. You’ll grab them in the morning without a second thought, as the dark shades handle playground dust and puddles on the way home, matching anything in your closet. Plus, they feature a retro running style inspired by shoes from the turn of the millennium, so you look great even when you’re just standing at the bus stop.
The 740 model is rooted in New Balance running shoes, and it shows. The layered upper combines breathable mesh with sturdier overlays that reinforce the shoe and give it a signature technical look. The cushioned midsole absorbs impacts while running and jumping, and the solid outsole grips the pavement just as securely as it does in the gym. You can adjust the fit perfectly with the laces. Wear them to school, for after-school activities, or on weekend outings, and they pair well with jeans, joggers, and shorts. New Balance is an American brand founded in 1906 in Boston, known for its comfortable footwear with a focus on a great fit. You can find the kids' version of the 740 at Footshop.
New Balance 740
The return of a running icon from the turn of the millennium in a perfect urban setup - New Balance 740
The New Balance 740 model represents the absolute definition of contemporary retro-futurism and the aesthetics of the turn of the millennium in Footshop's collection. Boston designers dug deep into their archives to revive a silhouette that was once at the technological forefront for performance runners. Today, the New Balance 740 returns as a significant manifesto of lifestyle streetwear. With its distinctive layered upper, metallic details, and robust technical midsole, it appeals to a community that no longer wants to choose between authentic athletic credibility and maximum comfort for all-day movement on hard urban surfaces.
Technological archive and material synergy from the Y2K era
What makes the New Balance 740 exceptional is its visual and functional fidelity to its original DNA. The shoe's upper relies on what was then a revolutionary, now iconic architecture – the base consists of highly breathable open mesh, reinforced by strategically placed synthetic and metallic overlays. At Footshop, we appreciate this construction for its ability to perfectly secure the foot without overheating, making the 740 an ideal companion for the spring and summer seasons in both gorpcore and urban outdoor tones.
The heart of the shoe is a sophisticated cushioning system that absorbs impacts exactly where it's needed most. The midsole utilizes advanced foam blends combined with torsional stability in the midfoot. This biomechanical configuration ensures that the shoe maintains the correct foot position even after hours of walking on concrete. It’s a model that redefines the concept of “dad shoes” into something lighter, more dynamic, and ready for the fast pace of modern life.
The aesthetics of speed and universal styling in a curated selection
The charm of the New Balance 740 lies in its visual drive. Aggressive lines, reflections of silver tones, and the iconic side "N" logo give the shoe an instantly recognizable character. Within the Footshop selection, we recommend pairing these sneakers with contrasting elements from your modern wardrobe:
- With loose denim and cargo pants: This creates a relaxed, authentic look inspired by the late '90s.
- With minimalist basics: Let the shoe's intricate texture stand out when paired with quality adidas Cctg sweatpants or a clean, solid-colored crewneck.
- For bold layering: They work great as a technical counterpoint to more formal cuts, like oversized blazers or classic trench coats.
Investing in the New Balance 740 is an investment in a silhouette that perfectly captures the wave of nostalgia while standing firmly in the present technologically. Choose your pair from our curated selection at Footshop and experience a new interpretation of running comfort that pushes the boundaries of modern sneaker culture.

Scarpe dalla linea moderna e, a detta di mia figlia, molto comode
More than a century of tradition based on stable and reliable movement. These are the New Balance shoes, which have become a symbol around which a cult of comfortable walking and running lovers has been created during the 20th century. But beyond sneakers, New Balance is also at the forefront of everyday and sports fashion. Every year, a special collection is released and more than one football team boasts the NB logo on their jersey.
The history and development of New Balance shoes
On our website and practically anywhere else, you won't find a large number of brands as old as New Balance. In fact, as early as 1906, the New Balance Arch Support Company was formed to provide specific aids for each shoe. These were designed to not only provide comfort to the then not-so-comfortable shoes, but more importantly stability by supporting the arch of the foot - hence the name New Balance.
However, New Balance sneakers as shoes did not start to come out until many years later. Specifically, the first silhouette of a New Balance shoe saw the light of day in 1960 when the Trackster model came out. It was unique among the others primarily because it was the first outright running shoe with a crimped sole.
But the marketing didn't work very well and for a long time New Balance shoes were still a community affair. It wasn't until the 1970s that sales started to grow, with the popularisation of running, which was also linked to the hosting of the now iconic Boston Marathon. New Balance shoes began to become popular among runners and the company slowly but surely became a leading manufacturer of running shoes.
For running? Yes, but also no.
Today, however, men's and women's New Balance sneakers aren't just a running thing. Over years of branding and image building, they have become sneakers for almost every situation. Today we wear New Balance shoes before a trip to the countryside, a city walk but also a social event and still undoubtedly before a sporting performance.
New Balance sneakers can therefore be found in a variety of different designs. Men's and women's, in black and white and many other colours. The most popular models today are mainly New Balance sneakers with the 247, 373, 574 and 997. Of course, you can find all these New Balance shoes on Footshop. But besides these, there are also many others and the ranges of the latest silhouettes are constantly growing. So before you make your final choice, carefully examine all of our New Balance sneakers.
A record for stability.
New Balance footwear today is not afraid to venture into collaborations with other fashion brands, but also artists or athletes. It's not so long ago that the NB logo also started to appear on the jerseys of some football teams, and it's not impossible that the brand's influence and reach will continue to grow in the future. New Balance sneakers are worn, for example, by Trayvon Bromell, the American sprinter who became the first junior ever to break the magic ten-second mark in the 100 metres. Could it be that New Balance shoes helped him to achieve this?
In short,New Balance sneakers are a phenomenon that we have been wearing for many decades and everything indicates that we will be wearing them for many decades to come. And hopefully in greater numbers. The original intention of the brand, to make wearing sneakers on a daily basis more enjoyable, has not left New Balance shoes even more than a century after the legendary phrase was introduced to the market.
So be part of a tradition with a clear vision and name your sneakers with the iconic NB in the logo.
