In the 1920s, French tennis player René Lacoste traveled to Boston with his Davis Cup team and noticed a crocodile suitcase. He made a bet with his coach, who promised to buy him the suitcase if he won the tournament. Neither of them could have predicted the lasting influence young Lacoste would have on fashion and trends in the future.
After retiring from tennis in 1933, Lacoste officially founded the brand of the same name, choosing the alligator—his nickname—as the logo. Fashion today would be very different without Lacoste’s innovation in sportswear. He introduced a new style of T-shirt by adding a collar, buttons at the neck, and short sleeves—thus creating the polo shirt.
What began as a tennis uniform quickly became a trend, moving from the courts to the streets. Today, you can dress head to toe in Lacoste, with pieces that offer both great quality and value. Our selection includes T-shirts, pants, hoodies, and caps. Get your crocodile outfit now!
