Mizuno Wave Prophecy LS
Futuristic sole that replaced foam with plastic wave - Mizuno Wave Prophecy LS
When Mizuno decided to tackle cushioning differently than by adding another layer of foam, they came up with a solution that looks more like a piece of futuristic architecture than a running sole. Wave Prophecy LS is a lifestyle transformation of a model originally designed for performance, now one of the most distinctive silhouettes at the intersection of running innovation and modern streetwear fashion. The visible, wavy plastic plate in the midsole makes it an instantly recognizable piece of footwear. This shoe proves that a technical concept from the track can work just as well as a bold fashion statement.
History: from Wave Rider to full-wave sole
The Mizuno Wave technology debuted back in 1997 with the first model, Wave Rider, as a single component of the midsole. Instead of adding another layer of foam cushioning, Mizuno opted for a wavy plastic plate embedded in the midsole – upon impact, the wave flattens and disperses the shock force sideways. This principle fully developed in 2011 with the arrival of the Wave Prophecy, which introduced the first full-wave sole instead of the previous partial component. Its futuristic look and performance capabilities quickly made it one of the brand's most popular models, eventually transitioning into the sportstyle segment as Wave Prophecy LS.
Technology: Infinity Wave Plate and U4icX/Pebax foam
What makes the Wave Prophecy LS visually and technically exceptional are these elements:
- Infinity Wave Plate: The next generation of Wave technology with an even more pronounced, visible construction – the TPU wave plate not only offers a bold visual effect but also effectively disperses shock force.
- U4icX/Pebax foam: Complements the wave plate with responsive, well-cushioned impact absorption upon landing, combined with supportive mesh and leather upper.
Design
Avant-garde aesthetics combined with advanced running technology create a cult hybrid between running innovation and modern streetwear fashion – a shoe that fans describe as supportive for walking and all-day wear, though less suitable for actual running due to the higher stiffness of the construction.
Who the model is for
Wave Prophecy LS is a fashion silhouette for you if you’re looking for a distinctive, futuristic design with a real technological foundation – ideal for everyday wear for lovers of unconventional silhouettes, not as an active running shoe.
Materials
More than 100 years of one of the most enduring brands in the history of the footwear industry can now finally be purchased in sneaker form at Footshop. But Mizuno didn't just make shoes from the start. This legend was born in Osaka, Japan, in 1906 when brothers Rihachi and Rizo founded Mizuno Brothers, which initially focused on baseball apparel. The older Rihachi brother was fascinated by the American sport and decided to use his new brand to promote it throughout Japan.
Today, of course, Mizuno is no longer just about baseball. It's penetrating different sports - especially running, but also cultures and subcultures outside of it. If you're into the Japanese aesthetic of clean shapes, colour combinations that always hit the spot for some reason, and retro perfected to perfection, then you've come to the right place.
At Footshop, you'll find both men's and women's Mizuno sneakers, especially in low-top options. A lot of them can become your essential companion for every running workout, but give them a try with your everyday outfit. Then you'll see the magic.
