Therefore, TOGETHER AS OURSELVES is the tagline for the new Vans Pride collection, inspiring the LGBTQ+ community and its creative spirit of self-expression. You can enjoy classic models such as the Slip-On, Authentic, Sk8-Hi, and Lampin with the iconic rainbow checkerboard pattern and patchwork appliqué, designed to show support in a more equal and inclusive society. It all began in 1978, when Paul Van Doren wanted to create a similar model to the iconic #36, known today as Vans Old Skool. His goal was to design a functional and high-top shoe that will suit all skateboarders and that will provide a whole new point of view. He succeeded and introduced a new model #38, known as Vans Sk8-Hi, which celebrates its 40th birthday this year! Of course he didn´t forget the legendary sidestripe.
