The Air Jordan 12 “French Blue” first released in 2004, bringing a clean white leather upper and rich French Blue accents to Tinker Hatfield’s Rising Sun–inspired design. Originally crafted as a lifestyle-forward take on the performance-driven AJ12, it blends premium materials with full-length Zoom Air cushioning. This 2025 retro returns true to form, delivering the same timeless elegance and bold color blocking that made the original a fan favorite.
Air Jordan 12 Retro
Power, luxury and basketball heritage in one iconic silhouette - the Air Jordan 12 Retro
The Air Jordan 12 Retro is one of the most charismatic models in Jordan's history - inspired by the Japanese "Rising Sun" and a luxurious design that evokes prestigious fashion footwear. They debuted on the market in 1996, when Michael Jordan played one of the most dominant seasons of his career in them, including the legendary "Flu Game". They remain one of the most popular retro models today thanks to their combination of performance, comfort and distinctive silhouette.
The upper is premium leather or synthetic (depending on edition) with iconic stitching that resembles the rays of the rising sun. The sturdy construction provides great support, while carbon reinforcement in the midsole adds stability with every step. Cushioning is provided by a full-length Zoom Air unit and layers of soft foam that make the model feel comfortable even when worn all day.
The "herringbone" pattern outsole offers confidence on a variety of surfaces, whether it's city, playground or streetwear styling. The Air Jordan 12 Retro has been worn by players such as Ray Allen, Carmelo Anthony and of course Michael Jordan - so the silhouette carries a strong performance legacy that is still relevant in the lifestyle world.
Who are they for? For Jordan fans, lovers of luxury materials, retro collectors and anyone who wants a stylish and durable sneaker with historical value.
Outfit tips: pair them with cargo pants, wide jeans, oversized sweatshirts or technical jackets. They also work great with a minimalist monochrome look, where you let the AJ12 stand out as the main statement piece.
Materials
Leather: Natural leather is a traditional material resulting from the tanning process of animal hides and skins, which occupies a key position in the footwear and haberdashery industry due to its mechanical resistance, breathability and aesthetic value. The specific reticular structure of the collagen fibres allows the material to adapt to the user's anatomy, resulting in optimum wearing comfort. As a hygroscopic material, the leather naturally regulates moisture and ensures air circulation. The appearance and functional properties, such as the degree of water repellency or texture, are defined by the specific type of technological processing, which include smooth finishes, suede or nubuck.
Air Sole: Legendary cushioning element, a capsule filled with compressed air placed in the heel or toe of the shoe. It compresses on impact, absorbing shock and reducing stress on the joints. This increases comfort, energy return and durability of the shoe and has fundamentally influenced the development of modern sneakers.
Rubber: The rubber sole is a traditional and highly reliable element in the construction of footwear, valued especially for its extreme mechanical resistance and grip. This contact layer is made of natural or synthetic rubber, which is characterized by its high density and elasticity. Due to its physical properties, it provides excellent traction on a wide range of surfaces, from smooth asphalt to unpaved terrain. In addition, the rubber is naturally waterproof and resistant to temperature fluctuations, ensuring stability and a secure stride in a variety of climatic conditions.
User reviews
In the history of sneakers, there is perhaps no more successful collaboration between a sneaker brand and an athlete than in the case of Michael Jordan and Nike. From the union of these two concepts came a legend in the form of Air Jordan in 1984. These sneakers were initially worn exclusively by the legendary thirty-three, however, within a few months of their introduction, Jordans were also in the hands of the public.
The legend in the form of the Air Jordan 1
The Air Jordan 1, which Michael first put on more than thirty years ago, is now one of the most popular silhouettes among sneakerheads. But the beginnings weren't exactly easy. In 1985, the most famous basketball player in history was banned from wearing Jordan 1 shoes because they didn't meet the prescribed game dress code, according to the NBA . To make matters worse, he would have to pay a $5,000 fine for every game he wore them.
This, of course, wouldn't be the seasoned Nike, which had a proper respect for its workhorse. Rather than risk the recall of this Jordan sneaker, it was decided that the company would rather cash in any such fine to Michael just so he could wear the J's as they were. The pinnacle of healthy audacity was an ad for just the Air Jordan 1 shoe called "banned." It featured, among other things, the legendary line, "The NBA threw them (Air Jordan 1) out of the game. Unfortunately the NBA can't stop YOU from wearing them".
New era, new Jordans
Time moved on, and as the years passed, so did more Jordan shoes. After the legendary 1s came the 2s, then the 3s, and by 2000 the number of new silhouettes had climbed to 15. Today, there are many more, and more models are still being added. However, even though these are far from being some worthless pieces, the glory of their first retro models is hardly matched by the new Jordan shoes aka Jordans .
Nike Jordan shoes have already entered their fourth decade of existence. Unlike a lot of other brands, Jordan sneakers have never strayed from their pre-marked path, that is to produce basketball sneakers for top athletes. But from the street basketball courts and gym floors, Air Jordan shoes have moved in a big way to the city streets as well. Among other things, the popularity among fashion and sneaker fans is also due to their popularity among the world's music stars, who do not hesitate to wear Jordan sneakers to concerts, fashion events and the most prestigious music awards.
